I can confirm that. Since I put the VyprVPN on my Android phone, my battery runs out after 6 hours and I haven't even used a phone, WhatsApp etc..
Your app consumes the battery most, mostly 50-70%.
The problem is clearly your app and nowhere else.
I reported the problem to support and support just closed the ticket without even helping me with the problem.
That's no way to provide customer service. I point out a problem and you close the support ticket without comment. I've tried many VPN apps for Android, especially paid ones, and none of these VPN apps have ever used as much battery power as yours. All others were 5-11% on average and never above! And I used Multihoop, Port 443 and Stunnel etc..
I don't use Android 7 rooted and as a device I used the Moto G5
But with you it's between 50-70%. Change it, please!
