iOS 8 AirPlay Screen Mirroring

When streaming a video from a website outside of the U.S. using the VPN app I cannot mirror my device using AirPlay. Is there a functionality conflict? Does the Apple TV not recognize something?

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue as you should have no problem mirroring your device using AirPlay. Please contact our 24/7 support team via email or live chat so we can investigate:

I’m personally curious if we were able to address this issue, and if so getting the solution here for all to see.

An issue I could see is that when you bring up the VPN, all of your traffic is now going out to the VPN end-point, and the local wireless network is no longer being utilized for the purpose of finding AirPlay devices.

There may be something we can do about it, if Apple allows us. I’ve poked the product and development team to at least get them thinking about it.

Thanks,
MikeDoug

@Gretchen_Kubiak,

One of the developers just located this link, which may be of interest to you since you are using an Apple TV: http://www.macrumors.com/2014/03/12/apple-tv-6-1-bluetooth-airplay/

With the VPN connected, you should still be able to stream to the Apple TV over Bluetooth freely. I’d love to know if that works for you!

Thanks,
MikeDoug
